Crashout

An open-world racing game

Welcome to Fallhaven

Sunset Mountain

Sunset Mountain is the perfect place for tourists. With clear views of every other major location between the two islands, alongside the view of the sea over the cliffside, it dominates the eastern island's skyline.

Furthermore, years were spent building a highway that goes right through it, including several large gaps, or "windows", to see the ocean through and to let light into the tunnel.

Fallhaven Forest

Fallhaven Forest is a tightly-packed natural region, containing several species of various wildlife, alongside the tallest tree in the state of Fallhaven, which is rumored to be over ten thousand years old - scientists have had a camp set up and have spent years trying to find out what could cause the tree to stay up so well for such a long time - though it still hasn't been figured out yet.

Also, most drivers have trouble getting stuck between trees here.

Halibut Village

Halibut Village is a small fishing town near the coast of the eastern island, named appropriately due to the curiously large number of Halibut that are brought in by the fishing boats.

This town has been around for decades, yet has not grown much more than when it was first founded.

Halibut Farm

Halibut Farm, aptly named due to its Halibut Village origin, is the only farm in the state of Fallhaven - although it brings unusually high amounts of produce for it's small surface area. It mainly produces wheat or bread, alongside hay, beef and a few vegetables like carrots. Somehow, it is run by only one person, and no workers besides himself are ever seen or hired for work on the farm - and this man keeps himself completely anonymous - but nobody tends to be concerned with this because if it works, it works.

Fallhaven City

Fallhaven City is a sprawling city, and where most people receive their first impressions of Fallhaven as a whole. It is home to the Dealership, Fallhaven Park, and the highest tower in the state, alongside obviously the vast majority of Fallhaven's population.

Gameplay

In Crashout, you have the ability to choose if you wish to drive in either an Open World, or Race mode.

Screenshot 2025-06-05 141922.png

Open World

In the Open World mode, you are given the ability to choose any of the three cars, and drive them wherever you wish to without any limits or invisible walls - though it's not exactly recommended that you drive into the sea.

In this mode, there is no goal, and you can return to the Dealership to change cars or mode at any point by simply driving back up to it, transporting you directly inside with the Menu door behind you if you wish to swap over to the Race mode.

This mode is dedicated to finding all the little details scattered across the map, and for you to explore even the parts of the map you don't see during the races.

Race

In the Race mode, you are again given the choice of driving any of the three cars - however this time you can't just drive back to the dealership, you must race against the clock to reach the finish line before the timer hits zero, similarly to in Race the Sun.

Each of the cars has their own race tailored to their strengths and weaknesses - from offroad racing, to racing at high-speed down the highway, there's something for each of the cars.

The order in which you complete the races is completely up to you, but it's recommended that you drive the smaller car first to get used to the controls, and the super car last.

The Dealership

The dealership is where you choose which car you wish to drive in either a race, or wherever you want. Located in central Fallhaven City, it's large glass windows fill the building with light during the day, allowing you to see Fallhaven Park and the city around the building itself.

The cars sold here are made in their entirety by Nuclear Motors (formerly known as Nuclear Autosports), and they have given you free test drive access to their latest lineup of motor vehicles - simply walk up to which one you wish to drive, and you will be put straight into the drivers seat.

The Cars

There are three different cars you can choose from in Crashout, each having their own handling, speeds, benefits, drawbacks and races.

NM: Juggernaut

This six-wheeled behemoth is the second car you are expected to drive. As the largest and heaviest vehicle in the game, it drives surprisingly well - but while it's top speed is noticeably lacking on any mostly-straight road, it's determined to get you wherever you need to go, and it's always ready to do it.

NM: One

The first car you are expected to drive is the Nuclear Motors: One. It is called this as it is meant to be your first car - being sluggish, not particularly good in any way, but it gets you from point A to point B, and it probably will be able to for way longer than you'd expect.

NM: Thunder

This is the final car you are expected to drive in the game, with a top speed of..well, too high to reach on the roads of Fallhaven unless you want to end up in the sea, alongside

having brakes about as effective as throwing leaves at the front bumper and expecting it to stop, paired with way more horsepower than the tires can handle, it's sure to make you hit something along your travels, no matter your skill. Wear a seatbelt - and maybe a helmet while you're at it. Safety first, they come with the car.

Hey, at least you get all those style points that come with it!

Story and Hidden Details

Crashout doesn't really have a main story like Race the Sun, although it keeps all of the hidden sub-stories open such as the hidden story of the "Janetors", the secrets of Nuclear Autosports, and the jokes of the Billboards - each of which are shown in the page for Race the Sun, with it's details and secrets section linked below.

Sub-Stories

Even though Crashout doesn't really have a main plot or story, it has grown a few sub stories, and added a few details to stories from Race the Sun.

image_2025-06-06_131639610.png

The Janetors

In Crashout, it is shown that the Janetors have expanded across the state, all the way to Halibut Village. However, there are also some theories that they are affecting the scientific research of the abnormally tall tree in Fallhaven Forest - could it be hiding something?

Nuclear Motors

Recently rebranded from Nuclear Autosports - Nuclear Motors are the company who create all the drivable cars in both Race the Sun and in Crashout. The company is still secretive on how their cars are powered, although it is still unknown as to why. However, there are theories growing that their cars are, or contain, small nuclear weapons. The reason why is still unclear - could it be connected to the Janetors?

The Farmer

The Farmer is a new sub-plot in Crashout. Almost nothing is known about this farmer, as nobody ever sees anything of them - but not many have had interest in finding out, since the farm produces significantly more than it should for the space it takes up, even though only one person owns and works on it.

What's Next?

Looking back at Crashout, i think i did well with what i had - but with more time, i feel i could make something truly great, since Crashout only took two weeks of development, even though I had to cut a few corners.

Most importantly however, the story is not yet over.
